Story
Alex was suddenly taken from us at the age of just 17 in December 2006 due to an extremely rare strain of meningitis. He was my closest family friend and second brother who I shared many happy memories with.
Having been inspired by his father and sister who have previously ran the London Marathon in Alex’s memory to raise money and awareness for Meningitis, I have set myself this huge challenge of completing the race in April 2018.
Meningitis Research Foundation are driven by the call of people who have experienced the devastating effects of meningitis and septicaemia. The call is simple but powerful, to ensure “no other family has to go through what we have”.
It's estimated that 1,000 people die from meningitis and septicaemia every day. Many more are left with life-long disabilities. Meningitis Research Foundation have invested over £17m in vital research and health interventions which aid diagnosis. They spend around £1m a year in the UK supporting those affected and providing free information to the public and health care professionals.
Please give what you can to support this amazing Charity!
