At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page!

In an attempt to get fit and healthy and (hopefully) raise some money for a good cause in the process, I decided to enter the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest 10 k Challenge with my very good friend, Ellie Collins.

I'm raising money for Alzheimer's Society. This is a very important charity as their staff and volunteers provide both local information and over 2,000 services across the UK to people affected by dementia in their communities. Local services include day care and home care for people with dementia, as well as support and services to help partners and families cope with the demands of caring. Every year they also invest around £2 million in research programmes that will help improve the quality of life for people with dementia, by tackling questions related to the causes of dementia, investigating good practice in care and treatment, and pursuing a cure.

This charity is very dear to both of us as we both have had first-hand experience of the pain and suffering caused within our families when a loved one deteriorates with this sad disease..........so dig deep, and donate to a fantastic charity as one day you might need their support.............

Oh and did I mention that we are going to be getting very cold and muddy and it's likely to be a very unpleasant experience for us?! Surely that's worth paying for? :-)
