NESTAC aims to improve the health and wellbeing of women and young girls who have experienced gender-based violence, focusing mainly on tackling Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The SOS project prevents and safeguards girls and young women from undergoing FGM, while ensuring their mental wellbeing.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

As this is the first ever ladies only quad, we thought it was apt to do it for this amazing charity. There are 500 new cases reported  each month of FGM (female genital mutitilation)  in the U.K. and many more are unreported.

Babies, young girls and vulnerable women are still having this done and many die or have terrible infections and pain through this, as well as the obvious terrible alteration to their life. The support given is to help  them move on with their lives by improving confidence, health and well-being

Nestac works with Salford university to support women and their communities to repond to FGM- giving support to the women and help them overcome their emotional difficulties and cultural held beliefs , developing strategies to deal with the trauma.

This organisation is Manchester based as this is unfortunately a hot spot and they work closely with our hospital (central manchester university foundation trust). Please have a look at the website www.nestac.org for more information, we want to raise awareness in this issue as well as raising some cash to support this brilliant charity.
