Rochester Cathedral has inspired faith and belonging for more than 1400 years. It costs over £5,000 a day to stay open for worship, music, visitors, and community work. With little public funding, we rely on your support to keep this historic place alive.

Story

                SARAH-JANE BURDEN and JULIE MANNING

                     HALF MARATHON FOR TEAM CHARLIE

In March 2013 our dear friends Nick and Julia Booth lost their teenage son Charlie, who tragically took his own life.

A group of Charlie’s school friends decided to form “Team Charlie” with a view to doing something positive in Charlie’s memory. An amazing £10,000 was raised for the Princes Trust from their first project. In 2013, two of Charlie’s schoolfriends visited Southern India and were very moved by the poverty that they witnessed. It was in a town called Ikkadu, around two hours west of Chennai that they came across two children’s hostels, an area between the hostels and the local high school all in desperate need of maintenance. An area of the highschool was identified where a sports complex could be built in memory of Charlie. The sports centre would be used by the high school pupils during the day, the hostel children during the evenings and the local community at other times.

Around this time Julie Manning and I (The Marvellous Mummies) started running together (well, walking and breaking into a jog sometimes!) we have sped up a little and have completed a few 10k races!

We have decided to embark on our BIGGEST CHALLENGE;

THE BRIGHTON HALF MARATHON FOR TEAM CHARLIE

So, on Sunday 28th February 2016 Julie and I will run 13 miles for Nick, Julia, Harriet and Charlie Booth and we willraise loads of money for TEAM CHARLIE.
