NewRun 2021 Marathon · 11 April 2021

The deadliest form of childhood cancer, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), has no known treatments - median survival expectancy is just 10 months. RUN DIPG are a charity committed to changing this via advocacy and fundraising in support of much needed medical research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page! The previous host (Everyday Hero) shut down so this is my new page.

So I’ve decided that in April I’m going to run my first marathon. No easy feat for me, especially since before starting this journey I’d never run further than 14km in my life (and only 10km since having kids).

I’m running in memory of a beautiful little girl called Josie who is forever four after being taken by the cruelest of diseases, a type of brain cancer called DIPG. Currently there is no cure for DIPG, parents are told to take their child home and “make memories”. I can’t imagine that. Even at the lowest points on our journey with Ollie’s health we always had hope.

Rare diseases don’t attract enough funding for medical research so Josie’s amazing parents started RUN DIPG to fund it. Josie’s Dad Matt is co-ordinating this critical research at HMRI.

Please help support this worthy charity so that children like Josie, and their families, can have hope for a cure.

If figured that if I was going to ask you good people for money that I’d have to do something pretty hard and I’m learning that training for a marathon is certainly that! Though nothing on the challenges these precious children and their families face every day. Thanks in advance for your support.
