The Seals Swim Again! · 15 September 2022

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

This year marks ten years since I first swam the Channel with my wonderful team of Seals, and we thought...why not do the whole thing again to mark our Channel-versary!?

With three original Seals, one Penguin and a couple of extras we found hanging round the local pool and strong-armed into joining us (ha!), we'll be training throughout 2022 ready to swim in September.

Since Aspire brought us all together, I couldn't not raise some money for the fantastic work they do, but this time I'm also splitting it with a charity supporting refugees - I'm very aware of my privilege in actually choosing to be in the Channel. Others don't have that choice.

So please give to whichever charity you choose - it's very much appreciated and will propel us all forwards in our training (which I promise will generally be very cold and uncomfortable!!).
