Event: London Marathon 2021, on 3 October 2021
We have an intrepid group of runners, #TeamSpinal, that will be taking on the first and only Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on 4th October to raise vital funds for Spinal Research.

Story

7 years ago my whole life turned upside down when my Husband became seriously ill with a spinal abscess, resulting in him being temporarily paralysed from the waist down. Within 24 hours of his diagnosis he was flown to the UK (from Jersey) and was in surgery having the abscess drained. The outcome at the time was unclear and we were told he may not ever walk again.

The hospital team were beyond amazing in surgery and the post operative care. From the surgical team with the surgeons and anesthetist to the physiotherapists and nurses who got him up within 24 hours of surgery we cannot thank them enough. Without the research that spinal research does we wouldn’t be where we are today. I have my Husband walking and my daughter has her Daddy.

More than 50,000 people in the UK and Ireland are living with paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.Spinal cord injury is devastating to the person, and their family and friends. Spinal Research is the UKs leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments.Together we are changing the future of spinal cord injury.
