Story
...in younger people.
Bowel cancer in younger people is extremely rare, but it sadly does exist.
- 3 out of 5 people aren't aware of their symptoms prior to diagnosis
- Over half of younger people diagnosed are not offered genetic testing or predictive screening for themselves or their families
This genetic screening could save lives!! All too often the symptoms younger people experience are ignored, or not taken seriously be health professionals, and by the time the diagnosis is confirmed it is often too late. The cancer will have spread, leaving the individual, their family and those close to them heartbroken, and precious lives ending too soon.
This fundraising idea is down to a very special lady, Kirsten is sadly one of these individuals. It is her wish to raise awareness of this genetic testing and screening for bowel cancer in younger people... and it is my job to ensure it happens!!!
Please think of these individuals this Christmas, and cherish each moment, forget material possessions and enjoy each other, do you need to spend on that novelty gift? Could that money benefit MacMillan???... if everybody who does Secret Santa at work or with friends were to donate the £5 they would usually spend to MacMillan, can you imagine what could happen!
