Story
Next month Hannah and Nathan are taking part in their first Junior Great North run (3 miles) for St Oswald's Hospice. The following day I am running my 5th Great North Run (13.1 miles).
We are taking part in these challenges to say thank you for all the help and support St Oswald's gave my family during the last few months before my dad passed away. Dad battled a stage 4 brain tumour for 18 months, but his seizures became so bad, we couldn’t care for him at home any longer, as it wasn't safe.
Dad moved into St Oswald's Hospice, which was an amazing place and looked after him really well and kept him comfortable, pain free and safe. The staff were amazing, they even made him his favourite food when he was having a tough day. They were really kind and helpful and sympathetic to us too and checking if we needed anything. Mam was allowed to stay over too which was very important for them both. They also amended his meds to keep the seizures under control. Dad stayed there for 4 weeks before he chose to go home to spend time with the family.
St Oswald's is an amazing place and do a great job of helping and supporting families through their toughest times. The Hospice cares for local adults, young adults, children and babies in the North East with incurable conditions and their families.
Please help us support an amazing North East charity by sponsoring us. Any amount will be really appreciated, and will make a difference.
