Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The word ‘dementia’ is an umbrella term for the symptoms caused by various diseases. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause but other dementias include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and frontotemporal dementia. Symptoms such as memory loss, confusion and personality change are all common amoungst Dementia sufferers, and this becomes incredibly difficult for the person experiencing it, and also their families around them.
Whilst there are no treatments to stop or slow the diseases that cause dementia, there are treatments and services that can help people to live with their symptoms a little easier.
Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support to families through their Admiral Nurse Service. These services are solely funded by donations, and we are lucky to have 3 areas in Southampton that provide them.
Our family, like many families, are affected by dementia, and this is the reason I want to raise money to support such a great and important charity. To help those get the support that they need, but might not be able to afford.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I will be holding a fundraising event in November with local bands donating their musical talents for the good of the cause, running the Great South Run, and then finishing with the 2019 London Marathon! Wish me luck!
Any support would be really appreciated. I want to smash my £2500 target and double it! I hope that all our hard work will give those with dementia a better and more fulfilling life that they deserve.
All my love,
Sarah x
