Story
To mark 40 + 1, instead of presents if you would like to make a donation, the GRACE foundation will benefit hugely.
Who are GRACE and what do they do?
A charity who work directly with surgeons, researchers and hospitals in Surrey and London. Founded by Mr Simon Butler - Manuel. GRACE supports women with gynaecological disease by raising awareness, funding research and providing local hospitals with vital surgical equipment.
Why pick GRACE?
It’s simple. I am fortunate enough to have had two successful surgeries carried out by Simon himself. If it wasn’t for this, it is unlikely we would even have Alexander.
But I am just one woman and we are just one lucky family. Gynaecological disease is not only painful, distressing and causes fertility challenges. At their worst they include the 5 main gynaecological cancers.
Graces’ main work is focused on reducing the number of deaths and improving the outcomes of those diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer
In the UK, 21,000 women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer every year. This is 58 women diagnosed every day, and 21 of these will die.
Simon has pioneered some of the most advanced robotic, minimally invasive techniques. As they continue their research, they seek to reduce the number of Women and their families affected and dying from these awful cancers. To us they are local, well run and make a tangible difference. They collaborate with the larger national charities but find it harder as a local charity to fund raise.
Adrian and I will match whatever is raised.
Since you are here - one final plea. If you are a Woman, please make sure you have had your up to date cervical screening. And Men, encourage all the Women you love to do the same. Cervical screening saves lives.
NB JustGiving already get paid a fee so please do not feel the need to pay the extra fee they offer you at the end.
All our love Sarah, Adrian & Alexander x x x
