On Saturday 30th November I'll be joining the Red Run in Victoria Park, east London. I'm running to support Prepster - a small grass-roots organisation that has been at the forefront of educating and agitating for PrEP access in England and beyond.
Over the past year Prepster has provided information to tens of thousands of people about PrEP; they've advocated for increased places on the IMPACT trial, and for full rollout of PrEP on the NHS in England; they've done dozens of community events, spoken to hundreds of people; and produced award-winning web sites and videos.
PrEPster survives on a shoe-string but punches way about its weight. Their work was what first inspired me to get involved in HIV and then last year I was privileged enough to get to work with them on my research around HIV prevention in women. The support they gave me was immeasurable and (critically for a researcher on a shoe-string budget) offered without cost.
Not only for the help they've given me but for the work they continue to do making sure that everyone has a seat at the table when it comes to HIV prevention, I am incredibly excited to be fundraising and running for them.
Will you help me to keep Prepster on the go for another year? There's still a huge amount of work to do to get PrEP available for free for all you need it. Help me reach my target by donating any amount - small or large - I'll be hugely grateful.
* Because PrEPster is not a registered charity, they aren't able to register directly on Just Giving. As with last year, all funds raised by PrEPster at Red Run will be passed over to PrEPster by Positive East.
