On 3rd October I'm taking on the London Marathon for the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC). 

Abigail is my friends little girl. She is 5 years old and has a rare condition called optic atrophy. It is confirmed she has no sight in her right eye and is currently undergoing tests to see if she is blind in her left eye, as her current prescription for that eye is +7.50.  

The RSBC have a team of family engagement workers throughout the country who offer practical and emotional support to the parents helping to build confidence and easing anxiety. They also go into Abigail's school weekly to support her and the teaching staff. This support only costs £519.00 per year, per family. 

RSBC's motto is "life without limits," and I've never been more inspired than watching Abigail and her family go and smash through challenges every day, such as Abigail performing on stage in her dance school show.

Today there are an estimated 44,000 blind and partially sighted children in England and Wales. Each day, four more children will be diagnosed with sight loss.-Blind children are twice as likely to be bullied-One in three will suffer from depression and other mental health issues-90% will never have a long-term job -Two thirds of blind people are living on or below the poverty line-Most will never have a meaningful relationship RSBC help blind children to realise their potential. They run a family support service, working with families to help provide the best possible environment for their child to grow and thrive. They also help blind children to develop confidence and independence through their 'Live Life Go Further' programme of activities, building amazing friendships along the way. The target of £2,500 for each runner will help RSBC to support one child for a whole year!
