Story
Hello!
Earlier this year, in a moment of possible insanity(?), I decided it would be a good idea to agree to ride a mountainbike 256 miles across a far-off country in the middle of monsoon season. I'm not really sure what possessed me, as I am by no means a cyclist and generally get off my bike to walk up hills, but regardless, I am now fully committed. Flights are bought, and I'm trying to channel my nerves, fear, anxiety and excitement into motivation to get training. One thing that will help immensely is YOUR support.
This October, I'll be riding across Uganda to raise money for Product of Prison(PoP). They are a wonderful organization supporting prisoners in Uganda, who are often a forgotten and persecuted group, suffering social and economic exclusion. PoP helps them develop skills so they can reintegrate back into their communities, and create opportunities for a better life when they are released, breaking the cycle of poverty, re-offending and imprisonment.
I am covering the full cost of my trip, so all money raised goes directly to PoP. As a small organization, your money goes much further than it would for a large charity. £1,800 pays for career skills training for 100 prisoners, £44,000 will cover the entire costs of PoP's work for one year.
On top of the good you'll be doing by donating, you will be helping me! Thinking about the hard-earned ££ and $$ that you give, will keep me peddling as I struggle across rutted dirt roads and up mountains(I've been promised there will be plenty of climbing on this ride with an elevation gain of more than 5249ft). I've never done anything like this in my life(my longest bike ride is a slow 26 miles through the streets of LA on a charity ride), so I know this is going to be a tough challenge.
Any amount is greatly appreciated!
Sarah
