Story

Nicely done on getting to this page!

You are obviously a VAP(very awesome person)! Feel free to make a speedy donation and leave the page quickly. BUT, if you have a couple of minutes, you might be interested to read a little bit about me and the charity I'm raising money for. Who knows....after reading you might be persuaded to give a little more generously...(insert cheeky grin).

I did not set out planning to run the New York marathon in 2019. I put my name forward into a ballot, hoping I might get a place, but thinking the odds were stacked against me. However, I now find myself with this incredible opportunity and a mind set of not wanting to waste this!

I'm not a natural runner, I'd describe myself as a ploddy, but reliable Shire horse. I won't get there quickly, but I will certainly finish.  That said, I'd really like to challenge this concept I have in my minds eye. This time, I'm focused on shedding some extra weight and beating my London marathon time.

If you do find yourself in the Oxfordshire area between now and November, please get in contact with me as I would be very keen to go on a run or walk with you to help with my training.

It would be remiss of me if I didn't also use this opportunity to raise some pennies to help others in my local community, which is why I've  decided to create this page!

I'd like to support a charity in my local area called TAB - The Abingdon Bridge! They are a group of amazing counsellors who provide young people between the ages of 13 - 25 with awesome help and advice across a whole heap of different topics. The team who provide 1-2-1 care and support, have also built workshops regarding self-care and the risks around influences from social media.

I think it's really important to help young people navigate the world we  constantly change, hence why I particularly value the work provided by TAB in my local community.

If you'd like to learn more about the TAB team and the fantastic work provided by TAB please check out the following website:

TAB held their AGM in June, and what hit me while I was there, is not only are they influencing young people's lives for the better, but everyone who is in contact with the group, volunteers, counsellors, trustees, schools, parents and the list goes on. NOW that's awesome and amazing value for money. SO, I can assure you whatever you can afford to give will be put to excellent use and will be very gratefully received.

If you'd like to know about my marathon training progress, I'm using the notes function on Facebook, to keep a mini blog, I post updates twice a week. I will see if I can also post these updates via 'Just Giving' to keep you all in the loop and to persuade you to part with more of your hard earned cash for such a great cause!
