I am fundraising for Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity. Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder, their friends and family, as well as professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care. These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 1.25 million people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder. They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and up to one in four sufferers are male. Eating disorders cost the UK's economy £16.8 billion each year.

Since 2010 have suffered from anorexia nervosa and overcome its life-threatening grasp 6 years ago. To this day, I am still embarking on my recovery journey, so I truly understand how challenging these unprecedented times must be on those who are in the midst of their illness. For as horrendous as this is, I have so much belief us all that we can get through this together. 

I would love to send a letter to 26 people battling with an eating disorder throughout this pandemic, in the hope to encourage them to do all that they can to look after themselves inside and out. Having someone else who can relate and truly understand what you are going through, makes such a remarkable difference. No one ought to feel alone in their fight against their mental health condition, especially now. 

It would be wonderful to know that these letters could also raise some money for a fundamental charity in supporting those with eating disorders during the pandemic. BEAT are working endlessly to be there for as many individuals as they possibly can, and that is invaluable for those in crisis.
