WHY Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust, you ask?

As a radiotherapy & oncology student in training in Yorkshire, I see everyday the effects of cancer on everyone; from the person affected, family, friends, carers, loved ones, neighbours, villages and all of the staff.

I see the emotional burden, the treatment effects, and the relentlessly - for some - extremely long journey every day to and from the radiotherapy center - for often weeks at a time. Some people travel for up to 2 hours each way, on top of not feeling well.

I think about this daily. I am constantly thinking about how I (we) can  make the patient pathway and the care experience better, for everyone involved. And it's personal.

When I saw that Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust was trying to raise money to help bring a satellite radiotherapy center to Doncaster - I wanted to help! Because I know that it would make such a huge difference to peoples quality of life not having to travel as far everyday. 

And I hope you can help me! This is something I'm really passionate about.
