Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When I started the 'park bench to parkrun' 18 months ago (and cried at the top of the second hill for the first three weeks!) my aim was to be able to walk/run 5k at Whitstable parkrun every week. Little did I know that I would go on to not only love parkrun (running and volunteering) and become part of the Speedy Pluckers running club, but enter a half marathon...oh, and become 'Speedy Barbara' (of course the joke is that I am still VERY slow)!

I am fundraising to support the vital work carried out by Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent, where I work as a Research Nurse. Everyone thinks hospices are about end of life care, but they are so much more. The message here at Pilgrims is to get in touch early so people are supported to live their remaining days as well as they can. It really is about making the most of life!

My mantra has become Seize The Day so that I make the most of my own life, and when I run I hold in my heart all the people I have known who are not here to run with me.

Please support me to raise money for Pilgrims to continue their work. I have entered the race independently (not as a charity runner) so all monies raised is going  to Pilgrims. Please gift aid if you can!
