We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Crohns/Ulcerative Colitis is a disease affecting around 300,000 people in the UK. It affects the bowel and digestive system and prevents it from working properly, causing ulcers and inflammation. At the moment we don't know what causes it and there is no cure.

I was diagnosed over 10 years ago and last year I stopped responding to drug therapy. I became quite unwell and needed emergency surgery. I'm now the proud owner of a stoma bag which allows me to do basic things like the school run, which I couldn't do before.

In September I will be taking part in the Loch Tay Swim to raise awareness and hopefully some funds for the good people at Crohns and Colitis UK who provide constant support and information to me and thousands of other sufferers.

Ultimately the goal is to fund more research into what causes Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis, so that better treatments can be developed and in future hopefully no one will suffer from it.

Thanks for reading and thank you everyone for your generosity, you're all fantastic xxx
