Story
I'm not into teenagers but I am into horses. Last year I visited Shy Lowen to write an article for a magazine. The moment I stepped through the gates I was embraced by the kids that volunteer to work there, excited to tell me how they were getting on with the horse they were working with. The empathy and depth of understanding that these young adults have for the horses in Shy Lowen's care is heart-warming, astonishing, inspirational! Using kind and gentle techniques they bring the horses back from the brink and in the process learn so much about themselves, boundaries, obligations, love and self-respect.
At about the same time I had just about reached my target weight having taken up running. With the help of a personal trainer I began to see that I might just be a runner after all.
If ever anyone who had won the lottery needed a fantastic project to support, then it would be Shy Lowen - as it is, I shall make my contribution in this way.
You can sponsor me by the training mile, the marathon mile, for running, cycling or going to the gym. You can even sponsor me to take on a new training challenge or interim event and I'll do my best to fulfill it.
My next event is the half marathon at Kingston Lacy on Sunday 9th June.
