The elderly in Bethlehem are hugely disadvantaged.  Peace has not yet come there. Tourism is the main industry - there is little else. In times of conflict  tourists do not come. The economy suffers. Work is hard to find, especially for women. The absence of welfare systems such as pensions and healthcare impacts most on the elderly.
