I am helping to raise money for Tearfund's life saving work around the world, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty.
Father of four, Samed suffers from severe scoliosis, which means he can’t work. He and his wife were forced to send their children out begging. They had no choice if they were to stay alive. Then local Tearfund partner began supporting Samed’s family with regular supplies of flour, beans, sugar and salt. Samed says ‘I thank God that our children no longer have to beg’.
There are currently 24 million people like Samed still in need of humanitarian aid in Yemen - just one of the world's 50 poorest countries that Tearfund work in; distributing humanitarian aid and empowering communities to escape the cyclical nature of poverty.
As a group of young people, we are coming together to do 'The 24 Challenge' to support Tearfund’s work with those needing humanitarian assistance. I am running 24 miles in 24 hours on the 24th of July to raise funds for Tearfund and the work in Yemen.
