Fundraising For Therapies and Equipment

Story

Tom and I are going to walk the 3 peaks on Saturday 5th June to raise money for 2 amazing boys whose stories are detailed below. Their story touches my heart daily and I hope it touches yours too so that we can exceed our target.

J and B are two lovely brothers who need your help! They are both disabled and require specialist equipment and therapy that isn’t available on the NHS. They are both funny, curious, gorgeous boys who love trains and duplo lego, and have overcome so many obstacles in their young lives, but they have very different needs.

B is eleven years old, he has autism, high anxiety and sensory issues. He has very little danger awareness and at the moment we’re fundraising for a portable safety bed (approx £5K) and a specialist wheelchair that meets his needs (approx £3k). He has ongoing needs so any additional money raised for him will be spent on therapies, assessments, educational aids and future equipment.

J has had a rocky start in life. He is six years old and has had twenty-one operations, including two open heart surgeries, a tracheostomy and two oesophagus reconstructions. He is doing so well but needs some mobility aids to support his independence. We are currently fundraising for a powerchair (approx £8k) and a lightweight walking frame for him that can handle different terrains (approx £800). His needs are also ongoing so any additional money raised for him will be spent on therapies to improve his mobility, speech and independence, visual impairment aids such as magnifiers, large print books, tactile resources, other aids to support his education and future equipment.

J and B have so much potential but the therapies and equipment that will allow them to achieve it are so expensive. Whatever you feel that you could contribute would be so gratefully received and will be life changing! If you do want to donate to this page, the money will be used for either boy depending on where it is most needed. We will update the pages as items are funded and the boys’ needs change.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects.  If in those circumstances we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
