Story

Hiya my Lovelies. 😁😁💋💋💓💓

Many of you will know my story already, and have hobbled alongside me during my recovery from surgery, kept me laughing, held my hand when I needed it, accompanied me to my never ending hospital visits and treatments, included me even when I couldn't really join in, helped me at work, kept my sanity, hugged me, fed me and loved me so generously. 💓

Last summer 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma, an historically "untreatable" cancer that creates tumours under the skin, in the lymph nodes and eventually migrates to important bits like lungs, hearts and brains, where they create havoc having wild parties!!!    🤣

Untill very recently, there was no treatment for this -- chemo does not work for skin cancer - and therefore there would have been zero options for me and all my fellow travelers along this road.

But thanks to the research and incredible work of people like my oncologist Paul Nathan and his team at Mount Vernon Cancer Hospital in Rickmansworth, there is hope for my future, that I may yet live to run another race, to see my grandchildren, to grow old disgracefully. 😄

The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust (CTRT)

plays a key role in raising funds for the world-class cancer research undertaken by consultants at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, Northwood, Middlesex. The CTRT's mission is to enable Mount Vernon consultants to continue with vital research and their quest for new life-saving cancer treatments.

🥰🥰🥰 So now it is my chance to give something back. 🥰🥰🥰

I'm going to run the London Marathon (26.2miles) on the 26th April 2020, proudly wearing the T-shirt of my hospital, smiling my head off, being alive!!!

It's not gonna be pretty!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I'd like to say I could do it in less than 2 hours, but the truth is that I have lost most of my strength and stamina, (it's a small price to pay for a second chance! 😁).   So I think 6-7 hours, running, walking, limping, probably eventually crawling, hoping there's a big, strong hunk willing to scoop me up and carry me over the finish line!! 😄😄

I'm going to give some of my savings to the hospital, to say thank you and to help them to help more people after me. Some of the lovely folk I met at the beginning are no longer here --- their story finished too early.

If you'd like to help me to help other people to live, to be given a chance, to be able to grow old disgracefully too, please consider donating to the Trust through this page, so that they can continue their incredible research and treatment.

I'm running for me, for my Daddy, for all of us. 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
