London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Those of you who know me well, will know that our lives were turned upside down in 2019 when my wonderful Dad - Robert “Bob” Wright - was diagnosed with Brain Lymphoma. The symptoms presented themselves literally overnight and were so desperately traumatic. My father spent a total of 6 months in hospital receiving surgery and intensive chemotherapy and was discharged home just before Christmas with full palliative care. On 2nd June 2020, in the middle of lockdown, we were by his side as he passed away. That day will stay with me forever. 💔
My Dad had a military career spanning 50 years, he was a true gentleman, a soldier, a loving husband and the most wonderful dad and Grandad. He was the kindest most generous soul with an impish smile that could light up any room. He loved life. I am so incredibly proud of who he was.
I’m running this marathon for him. For his memory and in his name. It’s ALL for him. I turn 50 this year and I’m doing something that feels completely impossible to me, because I’m hoping that he will look down on me and smile and feel loved.
There are lots of charities that Dad supported, ironically not this one, but Lymphoma Action seems the right choice, if it helps in some small way, to prevent anyone else suffering the way that my Dad did.
Please help me get there and I’ll promise I’ll put the hard work in for the big day. 🏃♀️🏃♀️❤️
Thank you xxx
