Every year I like to set myself a challenge to raise money for the wonderful charity Cancer Research. Every one of us knows someone who has suffered from the cruel disease of Cancer. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, as we enter a new decade, we could see the end of Cancer by 2030? Cancer Research plays an incredibly important part in supporting those people who are suffering today and in undertaking research to try and achieve an end to this disease so that people don’t have to suffer in the future.

My challenge this year is two fold. I am chasing six stars and 7,000m. 

I hope to run the Tokyo marathon on 1 March 2020 and achieve my six star medal, for those people who have been privileged to complete the six major marathons of the world - Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York and Tokyo. If I am successful, I’ll be one of only approx 6,000 people globally who have done this and one of less than 200 women in Britain. 

I then hope to climb Peak Lenin in Kyrgyzstan, in August 2020, and reach 7,100m. This will require me to conquer my fear of exposure, carry a heavy kit for three weeks and cope with significant altitude, cold and loneliness. 

I know I have asked for a lot of support over the last few years and I am very grateful for all that everyone has given me. Your support this time will inspire me through the challenging training and the event itself and will make a difference to Cancer Research and those who this very special charity supports.
