Shakti Women's aid is a voluntary organisation which offers support and information to all black minority ethnic women and their children experiencing and or fleeing from domestic abuse from their partners/husbands, ex-partners and other family members

Story

When we (Martha and Imogen) found out that we couldn’t attend an in-person vigil for Sarah Everard, we set up Sarah’s Tree on Jawbone Walk in Edinburgh.

We would love if people from the community would come visit this ‘solidari-tree’ and tie their own ribbons* to its branches.

Too many people feel unsafe walking through the Meadows at night, and now more than ever it’s important to reach our hands out to one another in solidarity against gender-based violence.

These are our parks, our bodies. This is our claim to them.
