On Friday 9 November 2018, we (Sara, Emma, Catherine, Rachael and Faye) will be taking part in the Manchester Sleepout hosted by the Booth Centre. 

In an effort to raise awareness for the plight of the homeless we will be spending the night sleeping out on the street outside the Manchester Cathedral. In doing this we are asking for sponsorship donations, all of which will be very gratefully received and will go directly to the Booth Centre. 

One night sleeping rough in our sleeping bags pales in comparison with the daily hardships faced by the homeless in Manchester (and across the UK). Whilst we can never truly experience or envisage the true horrors and desperation of homelessness, we want to support a charity that is doing what it can to assist the homeless in a variety of ways. 

Not only does the Booth Centre provide immediate basic support like free meals and accommodation, it also provides counselling and training in an attempt to tackle health and addiction issues and secure employment. In a city where the spectre of homelessness looms large, the charity is a much needed source of light for many people in truly urgent need.
