Story

Dear supporters,

I'm sure many of you have heard about the devastating earthquake that struck Baluchestan on the border between Iran and Pakistan, on the 16th of April 2013 .

On the Richter Magnitude Scale  it was the biggest and most powerful earthquake that struck the region in the last 56 years. Despite that, it is reported that fortunately number of casualties are much less than it was initially anticipated. It is reported that in Eastern side of Baluchistan-in Mashked area in particular-there have been about 40 precious lives lost and about 150 injured, and most houses in Mashked region have been destroyed. In Western Baluchistan, there were some damages to property, but life loss and injuries were minimal.

Through one of our foundation members in West Baluchistan (Iranian Side) who has visited the stricken areas and through receiving reports from expert teams, LSCF have identified some very poor families in Saravan and surrounding villages ( Epicenter of the earthquake was close to Gosht, a town near Saravan) badly affected by the earthquake as some parts of their homes were destroyed and damaged. Mashked, Just on the border area between East and West Baluchistan was the hardest hit in terms of loss of lives, livelihood and houses.

The people identified cannot afford the basic necessities of life such as food and medicines, and so are not able to rebuild their homes. As advised by the government they have been sleeping outside in tents in case of after shocks of the earthquake.

In order to support these families , LSCF have set up a Baluchistan Earthquake Appeal fund and we need your help.
