Shrewsbury ASC 24hr Swimathon · 13 July 2013

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

At 9.30am on Saturday 13th July 2013 swimmers from Shrewsbury Amateur Swimming Club will be starting a 24 hour swim at The Quarry Swimming Centre, Shrewsbury.

Swimming will take place in the Priory Pool.  Shrewsbury Community Leisure Trust  (SCLT) have kindly donated the pool time free of charge.

We are raising money for Cancer Research UK.  Sadly, Rosie Turner a mother of one of the swimmers in the club, died from cancer on Sunday 19th May 2013.  The event will be known as SASC 24 Hour Swim - Rosie's Relay.

Rosie was a teacher at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College.  Fundraising at the college raised almost £5000 and was reported in the Shropshire Star on Wednesday 29th May.
