Story

On September 14th 2018 I gave birth to our beautiful boy Kaan. Eagerly awaiting to go home the next day we waited for Kaans health check. Unfortunately during this health check the doctors spotted something that just wasn’t right. Kaan hadn’t been feeding well through the night, and his breathing during the check caused the doctors concern. They made the decision to take him straight to the neonatal ward. Kaan was put straight on to antibiotics and oxygen while he was tested for what was wrong with him. 2 chest X-rays, blood samples, and 2 lumber punctures later the results were back that Kaan had meningitis. He was put on a drip and given antibiotics through a canula.

After a few days Kaan was taken off his oxygen and drip and had responded really well to his antibiotics. Due to the lack of space and facilities due to government cuts I had to leave him on a night after staying with him all day everyday, leaving my new born baby behind is the most unnatural distressing feeling I’ve ever felt.. 16 days later when Kaans antibiotics course was finished we finally got to take our beautiful baby home. The fast action from the doctors and nurses saved Kaans life, he  has been extremely blessed to of received the treatment he has from the neonatal team in North Tees Hospital. The nurses felt like family, and the doctors did an amazing job in nipping such a life threatening infection in the bud before it had chance to cause any damage to our gorgeous boy. So for this reason I’d like to raise as much money as possible to help keep this VITAL ward running for as long as possible, and to also help the families who have poorly baby’s there. Thanks for reading our story.  Xxxx
