British 10K London Run 2012 · 8 July 2012 ·

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit this page. I am running the British 10k in July for Refuge in memory of my sister Ru. As you may or may not be aware, I lost my elder sister Ru in February 2012. My sister was my best friend and was an amazing, strong, inspirational individual who I will always keep close in my heart and will live on forever with me.

Why Refuge? I am running for Refuge to support the amazing work they do. I decided to run for Refuge because unfortunately my sister experienced domestic violence in her lifetime and unfortunately this then lead to her becoming ill. This is for you Ru, I hope I make you proud…

Two thirds of refuge residents are children under the age of fourteen and last year alone the national domestic violence helpline that Refuge runs in conjunction with Women’s Aid had over 160,000 calls.

So please dig deep and donate now all of support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support, Sati
