The Campaign to Protect Rural England Oxfordshire works to improve, protect and preserve the landscape of Oxfordshire and its towns and villages for the benefit of everyone.

Story

We urgently need to raise over £2,500 to help protect the Cumnor Green Belt.   Please can you help?

The Vale of White Horse District Council is seeking to alter the boundaries of the Green Belt near Cumnor to allow the building of 200 homes in the south of the village.

The National Planning Policy Framework makes clear that a Green Belt boundary may be altered only in 'exceptional circumstances' and reiterates the importance and permanence of the Green Belt.

We strongly believe that the Green Belt should be preserved and that the infrastructure of Cumnor village will not sustain a 50% increase in population.

The Campaign to Save Cumnor's Green Belt is a community campaign run by residents in partnership with the Oxfordshire Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (Reg Charity No: 1093081, a company limited by guarantee, registered in England No. 04443278 at registered address: Unit 1, London Road, Wheatley, Oxon OX33 1JH.)

Your donation will be held by CPRE Oxfordshire and will help us pay for the planning consultant appointed by the Cumnor Campaign to write a report and make representations on our behalf to the Vale throughout the planning process.

We urgently need to raise in excess of £2,500 and need your support.

If you would like updates about the campaign, please register your email at cumnor-says-no@googlegroups.com

In the event of more money being raised than is needed, funds will be held by CPRE Oxfordshire for any further action needed to protect the Cumnor Green Belt until such time as the Vale's Local Plan 2031 has been approved. Thereafter any surplus funds will be used for the future protection of the Oxford Green Belt.
