Story

On Wednesday 4th August the Savills Retail Team will be taking part in a marathon walk around London to remember Estelle Forrester, Director of our retail team in Glasgow who sadly lost her battle to cancer last year.

Estelle joined the Savills Glasgow office in the retail agency team in September 2009 where she built up a shopping centre leasing profile for Savills from scratch in Scotland, and worked closely with our regional retails teams across the company.

Estelle had an infectious personality and was well loved and respected by all of her colleagues at Savills – there was never a dull moment when she was around and she lit up every room she walked in.

Sadly in October 2017, Estelle was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer which then became terminal. She underwent several treatments and took part in clinical trials with an enormous positive attitude and outlook. Alongside her treatment she managed to raise over £20,000 for cancer research, fulfilled a lifelong ambition to travel on the Orient Express and still mentor colleagues.

This walk is to remember the charismatic, inspiring and truly formidable lady that she was and we are delighted and honoured to be joined by her family, Johnny, Morgan and Struan.

The charity we will be raising money for is the Ayrshire Hospice who took such wonderful care of Estelle and her family during such a difficult time.

The Ayrshire Hospice provides specialist palliative care and services to people affected by life-limiting illness across Ayrshire. Care is provided where there is no cure for the condition, but which improves the quality of each day for people who have a limited time to live.  They help people to live as actively as they can to the end of their lives - however long that may be, where ever that may be. Care is provided by hospice staff in a number of places including people’s own homes, hospitals and care homes as well as in the hospice’s purpose built day care centre and in-patient unit.

The hospice not only takes care of people’s physical needs but look after their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. Family members, close friends and carers are also supported both during a person’s illness and in bereavement.

We would be grateful if you could donate as much as you can to this amazing charity and for the memory of a gracious and beautiful lady Estelle.

Our charity cares for adults in Ayrshire and Arran with life-limiting illnesses. We help them live as actively as possible to the end of their lives, however long that may be. Hospice care is open to all. It’s free for patients but it’s not free to provide. So we need to raise over £4M each year.
