Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge · 9 July 2022

Against Breast Cancer are working to prevent secondary breast cancer by funding unique research into the development of new treatments, including ultimately a vaccine; improving upon current blood tests; and assessing diet and lifestyle for factors that increase the risk of secondary breast cancer.

Story

Members of the SBFM team will be taking on the Yorkshire
Three Peaks challenge on Saturday, 9th July, in order to raise money for Against Breast Cancer and the critical research they are conducting into triple-negative breast cancer.

A team of hardy hikers from our Leeds headquarters will tackle the gruelling 24-mile circular route to the summit of all three Yorkshire Dales National Park peaks, with an aim of raising £5,000 to support the amazing work that the charity does to support those going through this rare form of breast cancer.

Against Breast Cancer funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread. Working with expert scientists the charity wants to increase the survival rates of all breast cancer patients and ultimately, discover a vaccine against breast cancer.

The challenge is inspired by SBFM Group HR Director Helen Nicholson, who was diagnosed with TNBC in 2021 and underwent cancer treatment while still working at our Leeds HQ.

Our team, which includes senior directors and staff from operations, HR, finance, recruitment, sales and marketing, is attempting to conquer the iconic three peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.

We have set an ambitious target of £5,000 and would love to be able to meet and hopefully exceed that figure.

You can help the team at SBFM, and Against Breast Cancer reach their target. Please donate today.
