We’ve been improving the lives of those who work or have worked at sea, and their families, for over 100 years. Established in 1917 as The King George's Fund for Sailors, to support the families of seafarers lost at sea during World War One, we support seafarers throughout their career and beyond.

Story

Welcome to Scandia Gear's fundraising page for the 24 Peaks Challenge 2022!

Held in Britain's Lake District, the 24 Peaks Challenge raises money and awareness for The Seafarers’ Charity and the organisation's work with seafarers and seafarers' families.

Scheduled for July 2nd and 3rd, the event centres on teamwork, testing participants' mental and physical strengths over 31 miles (50 km) of rough terrain, climbing 24 peaks, each over 2,400ft (732 m), in 24 hours.

Representing us this year, our third as a team, are Joost Kop Jansen, Joshua van der Sprong, Kelly Carels, Raymond van der Walle, Anniek Pos and Martijn Mosmans. Mark Brooks will be our driver.

We have chosen JustGiving as our team's fundraising platform to ensure that all money raised goes directly to The Seafarers’ Charity.

At The Seafarers’ Charity (formerly Seafarers UK), they are improving the lives of seafarers and their families for over 100 years. They started as the King George’s Fund for Sailors, providing vital assistance in troubled times. Today, they are evolving guided by the same powerful vision. Through their grant giving, they are bringing about truly life-changing impact for many who work – or have worked – at sea, and their families. Alongside this they are also using funding collaboration, research and advocacy.
