Story

Thank you for clicking here; you have already encouraged me by taking interest, you are a joy!

I am raising awareness and funds for the homeless by living in a tent with a sleeping bag, rucksack of clothes, toiletries for an outside tap, and books etc for 5 nights. I will only use a building for food, drink, the toilet and church. I will not be charging my mobile phone so have limited use.

The back story to this fundraiser is that I was on a camping holiday over the sunny bank holiday weekend, which I decided to extend due to the good weather. However, I checked the forecast for later in the week and rain showers were predicted during the following nights, so I decided I would finish on Wednesday.

That's when I had the revelation that millions of people around the world do not have the opportunity to leave the streets and temporary dwellings they sleep in. So, I have decided to 'Sleep Out' until next Monday instead, and raise money for North East Mission.

Their project Durham Winter Night Shelter provides a safe place for the homeless to stay and access vital services during the coldest of conditions in Durham City. They are hoping to expand and start a project in East Durham, so your donations are greatly appreciated, thank you! https://www.dwns.co.uk
