The 3 Peaks Challenge · 18 May 2018
The Schillings 3 Peaks Challenge was successfully completed over the weekend of 18th May. All 13 participants were successful in climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours!!! An incredible feat when you consider that less than 10% of groups are ever successful in the challenge. It was an incredibly tough trek with various injuries and snowy weather conditions at the top of Ben Nevis BUT it was also an incredibly rewarding experience.
We want to thank all those who have supported us so far..... and to those who still want to donate, it isn't too late! You have until 1st June 2018! Thank you from team Schillings
The Three Peaks Challenge is an attempt to climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. The route will take us from Ben Nevis in Scotland (1,345 m) over to Scafell Pike in England (978 m) and finally, Snowdon in Wales (1,085 m).
Over the weekend of 18th-20th May 2018, 13 Schillings employees, many of whom are NOT seasoned climbers, will battle the British weather to take on this challenge in aid of CHICKS.
An outline of our jaw dropping itinerary will be:
Friday:
Begin climb of Ben Nevis at 16:00 (approx. 5.5hrs round trip). Depart Ben Nevis at 22:00 to Scafell (approx. 6hrs drive away)
Saturday:
Begin climb of Scafell Pike at 05:00 (approx. 4hrs round trip). Depart Scafell 10:00 to Snowdon (approx. 5hrs drive away)
Begin ascent of Snowdon at around 15:00 (approx. 4hrs round trip).
The important bit:
I am sure we can all agree on the importance of being able to create happy childhood memories for young people. Whether it might be for children of our own, nieces and nephews, grandchildren or the children of friends and family. CHICKS is a national children's charity that thinks so too and they go above and beyond to provide respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK.
CHICKS believe every child has the right to make positive childhood memories. A CHICKS break inspires new confidence and gives children the chance to have fun, enjoy new experiences and relax. More than anything, it gives them the chance to just be children which sadly, is not a basic right afforded to many young people in the UK.
CHICKS began in 1992 and in that time, they have provided over 14,800 children with a much needed break. This year, CHICKS needs to raise £1.5 million to continue providing these vital breaks.
