School-Aid Fun Run · 1 July 2018
Thank you for taking the time to visit my sponsorship page.
I'm taking part in the School Aid Fun Run on 1 July to help raise money to support literacy in Africa.
The theme for the day is African Animals - and as School Aid's logo is a giraffe, I will be running the course wearing a full giraffe outfit. I'm hoping this will inspire other runners to also dress up and am looking forward to seeing a field full of zebras, tigers and possibly a hippopotamus!
This annual 5k run originated 5 years ago in recognition of the distance that many African children have to travel every day to reach their nearest school - so while I might get a bit hot on the day, it will be good to remember that while I'm doing this for fun, many children have to do this twice a day, every day if they are to have any chance of gaining an education.
Please support us - either by taking part, sponsoring myself and my fellow giraffe, or by coming along on the day to find out more about our work and how you can be involved.
Any money you are able to donate will be spent on providing much needed books, setting up libraries, training library staff and running literacy activities for impoverished and under-resourced schools in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Every penny raised will help a child in Africa:
- £2 will help us supply a pencilcase full of pens and pencils to a child
- £30 will fill a classroom shelf with books
- £150 will train a new library assistant
Donating through is simple, fast and totally secure and once you donate, your money will be sent directly to School-Aid.
Thank you for your support!
