In memory of Carl George

Annabelle's Challenge is raising awareness of Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (vascular EDS) to the general public and medical profession to help aid an early diagnosis and prevent misdiagnosis of vascular EDS and to support patients who are affected by the condition.

Story

In 2017 we lost our friend Carl George to vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. This year Carl would have been in the Upper 6th of School House at The Leys, and ten of that year, supported by the Housemaster, Assistant Housemaster and three 6th form tutors, will be running the Cambridge boundary run in his memory.

The boundary run is a half-marathon along tracks and trails around the ancient Cambridge boundary, organised by the Cambridge University Hare and Hounds Club.

The team hope that this will be a fitting culmination to two years of fundraising, and to bring the total fundraising by School House for Annabelle's Challenge to over £10 000 in two years. £3245 will take us to that point!

Annabelle's Challenge is the leading charity for vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in the UK. At the heart of the charity is Annabelle, a brave little girl from Bury who is the inspiration behind our challenge to raise awareness and support for patients and families affected by vascular EDS. Vascular EDS is a life threatening connective tissue disorder that affects all tissues, arteries and internal organs making them extremely fragile. Patients are at risk of sudden arterial or organ rupture. Vascular EDS (previously known as EDS Type 4.
