Staying in hospital can be a difficult time for patients and their families. We improve our patients’ care through extra funding for equipment, research, staff and patient welfare. Be it a neuro-rehabilitation machine, or specialist cancer training, your support helps us to continue our work.

Story

SCI Sports is a charity set up by the physiotherapy team based at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.   We are raising much needed funds to build a specialist sports facility for our patients who have sustained life changing spinal cord injuries.

Sport is an integral part of the rehabilitation process improving confidence and motivation among our patients and assisting in re-integration into society.   With London hosting the 2012 Paralympic Games we are hoping to promote grass-roots level sporting activities and produce international sporting stars of the future.   All this will not be possibe without out our own sports facilities.

We are planning a number of fundraising events (please see our facebook page for details) culminating in 15 members of staff taking part in a Tandem Skydive on the 26th September 2010.   So please dig deep and donate as much as possible so we can acheive our ambitious target!!.

Many Thanks
