At Macmillan, we will move mountains to help people with cancer live life as fully as they can. We’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help we can’t support everyone who needs us. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our story:

As part of the Scott Group's 30th-anniversary celebrations, we wanted to raise funds for charity, take the time to reflect on our origins and to think about the people who have contributed to the business’ success along the way.

In 1987 Jim and Chris Scott, who owned a local estate agency, bought a single site sawmill business and boldly took on a new challenge! Two years later, Jim Scott sadly became terminally ill with lung cancer, and the family was hugely supported by Macmillan Cancer Support.

Following their father’s death, sons John and Norman Scott came together to build the Scott Group with the help and support of so many people including, family, colleagues, customers and suppliers. During the past 30 years, we have seen many times the magnificent support that the Macmillan Cancer nurses provide.

We were therefore delighted that after a free vote, colleagues selected Macmillan Cancer Support as their chosen charity and we hope you will be able to make a donation. We have chosen the BIG FUN RUN event as our first challenge as it is an event that is repeated in several parts of the country so as a national business we will be taking part in a few!

To get us started, please support the team in Edinburgh that will include many colleagues including our directors Alan Gibson, Norman Scott, Tracy Trotter, Karen Hunter and Robert Maclean.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
