Many of you will know that I've played percussion in Brass Bands for a good number of years.  It's a community I grew up in and learned  many life skills as well as my love for music. It's like a second family. 

Bathgate Band is one of the oldest Brass Bands in the country. It exists to help spread the joy of learning and making music across the local community and further afield.  It welcomes young and old, beginners and experts.

Like many of the Brass Bands around the country we rely heavily on donations and grants to keep us running. Most of these we obtain through performances at concerts, parades or gala days.  And although the band is now starting to take part in events again, the last 2 years have been hard going and so every little bit of help we can get is most welcome.

On 29 May, I will be taking part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon (although it says "full marathon above". Entry was a present from my wonderful sisters who wanted me to do something special to end my 50th birthday year celebrations. This ranks up there with one of the biggest challenges I've ever taken on but I'm determined to get round.
