Story
Hello all,
I have decided to raise money for Macmillan Charity, as cancer has affected people close to me. Macmillan is a great charity that helps support sufferers as well as their families and friends.
I really wanted to do something fun but near impossible that would be a monumental challenge for myself. So first things first the definition of a 'Slam Dunk': "A shot in which a player thrusts the ball down through the basket". So in a nutshell I am training to lift my hand and the ball higher than 10 ft (3.048 m).
So what's so hard about performing a slam dunk? Well the hoop at 10 ft high, and myself at 5 ft 11'', it is quite the distance. I see myself as a normal sized male but from a Basketball point of view, I am incredibly short! I would not class myself as a fit man, I play basketball probably once every two weeks with friends from work non-competitively. So this is quite the hurdle.
I have a very busy and strict training schedule to fit into my spare time (which is few and far between as a dad and a teacher), which includes an incredibly strict diet. It is possible that this challenge will be impossible for myself, but I am choosing not to believe this! So far in my training have broke my ribs and damaged my right knee. I have over come these injuries and I am stronger than ever! Bring it on!!!
I am trying to raise £2,000 (ambitious I know), so if you could donate anything I would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
