Thanks Paul & Steve, greatly appreciated.
We completed day 1 riding 65 miles from Barrow in Furness to Dent, 11 hours in the saddle, arriving at the campsite at 20:30. Quite a hard day and mostly on road.
Day 2, 12 hours in the saddle covering 68 miles arriving at Osmotherly, with about 55% off road, lots of very big and long hills, arriving at campsite at 21:15! A very enjoyable but again hard ride.
Day 3, 9 hours in the saddle 85% off road, the best day and covering 50 miles. Off road was fantastic. Lots of steep long hills 10 miles from Robin Hoods Bay, especially coming out of Egton Station! Jesus christ! Arrived at Robin Hoods Bay at 17:30, with big smiles!

Did a 60k practice ride with approx 50 people. Lots of hills!!! Hard going in the heat but worth while. Bit of a logistics nightmare with all kids!
My Story
Thanks for visiting Scott & Jamie's JustGiving page. We are taking part in a Coast 2 Coast mountain bike ride with Bedale School in June 2010. We are setting off from Barrow and finishing at Robin Hoods Bay. We aim to cover 58 miles a day approx. We will be camping out each night. There are about 45 kids taking part who are raising money for their own charities.
I have chosen Mind The Mental Health Charity. Lots of you will have had friends and family who have had mental health issues, it is not very nice. Fortunately things have moved on these days and there is lots of good help and treatment out there. My dad suffered with paranoid schizophrenia, he was kicked out of the Army in 1974 with a medical discharge, he was a fit man, completing the SAS course to serve with the Special Reconnaissance Squadron (SF Unit)1962-64 and then once that was disbanded he spent the rest of his time with the Para Squadron RAC, he even managed to climb Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro. He served on Operational Tours in Aden, Northern Ireland 1969, 1971 and 1972 right in the thick of things, this along with a few other issues contributed to his ilness. He left the Army and spent the rest of his life drinking himself into oblivion and spending time in and out of mental health wards and prison. He suffered badly, it was sad to see such a strong man become what he did. He died 1994 aged 52! If he had the support that is on offer today for people with mental health issues I am sure he would still be going strong. It can affect anyone, there is not the social stigma that used to be asscociated with it. They reckon mental health issues are going to be a big big problem in the next few decades. It is a worth while charity and I hope you offer me your support.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Regards
