I've gone to watch the London Marathon a couple of times and thought it would be great to run it but that I wouldn’t have the discipline. Well, back last year I applied and thought I’d let fate decide! I got a ballot place meaning I was in!!

The highlights of my training including:

My Dad died of pancreatitis back in 2010 so I am supporting the Pancreas Supporters Network www.pancreatitis.org.uk. They support people with cancer and non-cancer diagnosis of the pancreas. It’s a difficult disease to diagnose and has a very poor outcome/ life expectancy.

Also make sure you tick gift aid as that is an extra 25% that the Govt give!!

WELL, THIS IS HOW I DID.....

Yes, I managed to finish the 2012 London Marathon in 5hrs 15mins.

It all started well, and I was enjoying it until I got to about mile 16-17 when I started to get a bit dizzy and light headed so was going to walk for a bit to get my breathing back properly.

Once happy I started to run again and did so for a bit until my right knee went. I managed a jog, hop then fast walk to mile 20 where I saw a medic who diagnosed me with ITB (or runners knee) and bandaged me up.

I then had 6miles and an hour to make my under 5hr target but by then could only do short jogs and fast walking which I continued until the 385yards to go sign when I just concentrated on the finish line and tried to sprint to the end. 5hrs 15min 57sec.

I was relieved that I'd finished but disappointed that I didn't finish under 5hrs and 'run' it all.

Thanks very much.
