Well, back last year I applied and thought I&rsquo;d let fate decide! I got a ballot place meaning I was in!!</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;"> </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #1c1c1c; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">The highlights of my training including:</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;"> </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">&middot;&nbsp;<span style="color: #1c1c1c;">first long distance run I took &pound;20 with me in case I needed a cab back (I didn&rsquo;t, but lost the &pound;20 somewhere)</span> </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">&middot; <span style="color: #1c1c1c;">running along the park in front of St Helier Hospital, tripped over a tree stump and fell in front of a bus stop full of people.</span> </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">&middot; h<span style="color: #1c1c1c;">it by tree branches and stepped in dog do whist running through local woods</span> </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">&middot; e<span style="color: #1c1c1c;">ven got lost on a 5mile run and had to stop and ask for directions!</span> </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #1c1c1c; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">Although I have a ballot place and do not need to run for a charity, I thought that I&nbsp;would. My Dad died of pancreatitis back in 2010 so I am supporting the Pancreas Supporters Network <a href="http://www.pancreatis.org.uk/"><span style="color: #0000ff;">www.pancreatitis.org.uk</span></a>.</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;"> <span style="color: #1c1c1c;">They support people with cancer and non-cancer diagnosis of the pancreas. It&rsquo;s a difficult disease to diagnose and has a&nbsp;very poor outcome/ life expectancy.&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;"><span style="color: #1c1c1c;">&nbsp;</span></span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">There is no minimum amount I need to raise, so all sponsorship&nbsp;gratefully received. Also make sure you tick gift aid as that is an extra 25% that the Govt give!! </span></p> <p style="background: white; vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 14.25pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;quot;">Thanks very much&nbsp;Scott&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">WELL, THIS IS HOW I DID.....</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">Yes, I managed to finish the 2012 London Marathon in 5hrs 15mins.<br><br>It all started well, and I was enjoying it until I got to about mile 16-17 when I started to get a bit dizzy and light headed so was going to walk for a bit to get my breathing back properly. <br><br>Once happy I started to run again and did so for a bit until my right knee went. I managed a jog, hop then fast walk to mile 20 where I saw a medic who diagnosed me with ITB (or runners knee) and bandaged me up. <br><br>I then had 6miles and an hour to make my under 5hr target but by then could only do short jogs and fast walking which I continued until the 385yards to go sign when I just concentrated on the finish line and tried to sprint to the end. 5hrs 15min 57sec.<br><br>I was relieved that I'd finished but disappointed that I didn't finish under 5hrs and 'run' it all.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">Thanks very much.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;">Scott</span></p>
