Bright Sparks is a school in Mohali, Northern India, providing free education to children from a slum area. The charity aims to provide a brighter future and teaches 100+ pupils to read & write in addition to covering 'nominal charges' for a small group to attend mainstream education.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. By writing the Scrapbooktraveller blog in 2017 I'm trying to raise funds to help this small school in India.

It's a primary school for about 100 girls and boys who would not otherwise get an education. They live in a shanty town on the banks of a polluted river. Their parents are labourers and fruit sellers who mostly do not read or write. This project tries to break that cycle of poverty for these kids.

The money is spent on books, resources, teachers' salaries, uniforms. The school is based in one floor of rented space. We have no offices and except for teachers' salaries, all the supporting work is donated free. If you like the thought of giving to a hands-on project with no overheads - that's great. Just give what you can.

Donating through JustGiving is totally secure. Your details are safe - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money will be sent directly to the charity.

Bright Sparks School India is a UK based charity. If you are based in the UK, you can text us a donation. Simply text: RAGA62 £10 and send to the number 70070. You can send any amount. Thank you.
