SEA LIFE's Porto - Maratona do Porto 2018

15ª Maratona do Porto · 4 November 2018
Here at SEA LIFE Porto we love our oceans and everything that lives there. It is our goal to see them protected now and for future generations. In aid of the 'Cross the Oceans' campaign we will be jumping out of the ocean and run for the amazing creatures that live in them.
All the money we raise will go to our aRAYzing partners the SEA LIFE Trust which is a marine conservation charity dedicated to protecting our oceans through global marine conservation.
Cross the Oceans is a distance event to replicate the return journey a Loggerhead turtle takes across the Pacific Ocean. Since 2015 the Loggerhead Turtle has been listed as an endangered species, so its our job to help!
Once hatched, the Loggerheads journey takes them onto the East Australian Current where they enter harsh conditions in the Pacific Oceans towards Chile and Peru. 16 years later the turtles make their way back across the Pacific traveling an incredible distance of over 23,000km ( Roughly 14,292 miles). Once the females reach maturity at 30 they will return to the beach they were born at to lay their own eggs- aww!
We are here to support these amazing creatures in a time where plastic pollution and accidental capture are driving 6 out of 7 species to the endangered list. Help us save our marine life!
Please support us in this amazing charity and donate today! No donation is too small to make a big impact!
