Story
Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat serving the Norfolk Coast is a registered charity offering Search & Rescue Services. We are a declared facility, fully approved by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency, We are on service 24 hours a day,365 days a year.
Being Independent means we have to raise all the money to maintain the service ourselves.
We need your help, on the 8th & 9th May 2020 we as a crew are going to do a Raft Challenge, paddling a home made raft from Norwich to Stalham over 2 days. This is 54 miles in 2 days on 1 raft.
We are looking for Sponsorship to help us get this event underway, also to help raise funds for Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat. The lifeboat Station costs around £35000 a year just to keep the Lifeboat going and maintain our assets. If you have any items that could help us along the way for the Raft Challenge that you would like to donate to us then please see the contact details below.
Brief History
Since before the formation of the RNLI, Lifeboats have operated from the Sea Palling Station as far back as 1840. Two Lifeboats owned by private companies were stationed here. In 1858 the station came under control of the RNLI until 26th January 1931 when the station closed. However in 1972 because of the increasing number of tourists visiting the area, several residents thought it prudent to provide an Inshore Lifeboat. This led to the present Independent Lifeboat being founded and still there to this day.
