London to Brighton Bike Ride · 19 September 2021 ·

On the 19th September we had 19 amazing individuals take part in the London to Brighton bike ride to raise vital funds for our work in Ethiopia, can you help us reach our £10,000 target?

Story

For 20 years Project Harar have worked in the most rural and remote areas of Ethiopia, to provide access to surgery for infants, children and young people with cleft lip and palate and more complex facial disfigurements. Both are the source of extreme stigma in rural communities leading to bullying, exclusion from community events and for children to not attend school. An untreated cleft lip and palate and complex facial disfigurements cause many physical problems, such as the ability to eat and drink, speak and breathe. Complex facial disfigurements can sometimes be life threatening if left untreated. Not only do Project Harar provide access to treatment for these individuals, but they aim to provide a more comprehensive treatment plan, including nutritional support and speech therapy in some areas for cleft patients, as well as continuous follow up, counselling and emotional support for patients with complex facial disfigurements.
